Side Airbag System
The side airbag system consists of an
airbag in each front seat backrest and
in the rear outboard seat backrests.
This can be identified by the label
AIRBAG.
The side airbag system is triggered in
the event of a side impact of a certain
severity. The ignition needs to be
switched on.
The inflated front side airbags cush‐
ion the impact, thereby reducing the
risk of injury to the upper body and
pelvis in the event of a side-on colli‐
sion.
The inflated rear side airbags cushion
the impact, thereby reducing the risk
of injury to the upper body in the event
of a side-on collision.
For optimum protection, sit upright in
the seat, with your safety belt cor‐
rectly fastened.
9 Warning
■ Keep the area in which the air‐
bag inflates clear of obstruc‐
tions.
■ Never install extra seat covers.
Seat covers can prevent the
side airbags from inflating cor‐
rectly and thus not provide the
intended protection.
