Note:
In the case of the Fairbanks recoil starter release nut, hold s tart er hub w ith strap
s panner and uns crew nut .
In
the case of the recoil starter wi th friction jaws release nut, hold starter hub wi th
pin spanner ( repair tool no . 7) and unscrew it .
Take off starter hub with spr ing ring and washer .
Remove
the cylindr ica l pin and the bearing roller from the magneto flywheel ( Fa ir-
banks recoil star ter ) r es p. 2 bearing rollers (recoil starter with friction jaws ).
Take off cover disc (3) .
Unscrew - fan and remove gasket.
Cover plate and fan housing

Unscrew fixing clip (3) for igni -
tion lead
(not in the ca se of 75 W
equipment) and cover (l }.
Detach leads at terminals l, 2
and 3 of th e te rminal bo x (5) an d
remove fan housing (4).
Note:
Remove cover flanges on fan
hous ing for electric s tarter con-
nection , if fitted.
Take care of dowel tubes.
Note:
Remove sh ort-c ircuiting button
only if nece ss ary.
Remove rubbe r cap (2) and
s hort-circuiting button .
Detach
short- c ircuitin g l ead from
in s ulator .
Remount
parts in rever se order .

Fit
reta i ning lever (1 , repair tool
no . 6) to magneto flywheel and
pull off the flywheel by means of
the ex tractor (2, rep air tool no . 5) .
