Mounting and start-up
Exd versions: connect the device with
anapprovedmetalcableentry(certi-
cate of conformity) or a seal box pipe.
Approvedversions(certicateofconfor-
mity) are equipped with permanently
sealed cable entries.
2. Secure grounding conductor at the
ground terminal located either inside or
outside the enclosure.
3. Check the O-ring for damage.
4. Screw on the cover as far as it will go.
Unscrewthecoveruntiltherstpossible
safety position (notch) is reached.
5. To lock the cover in position, tighten the
cap screw.
5.4 Pneumatic connection
The supply air must meet the following re-
quirements:
− Min.+0.4barabovetheuppersignal
pressure range
− Max. 10 bar

The pneumatic connections for supply air
(SUPPLY8)andoutput(OUTPUT36)arede-
signedasthreadedportswithG¼or
¼-18NPTthread.
Customaryttingsformetaltubingorplastic
hoses can be used.
Î Read the maintenance instructions for
upstream air reducing stations.
Î Blowthroughandcleanallairpipesand
hoses thoroughly before connecting
them.
Risk of property damage due to water en-
tering the device.
Î Make sure that no water can enter at the
end of an extension of the venting pipe
(minimum cross-section of 28mm² =
6mm inside diameter) connected to ei-
ther vent elbow piece or directly to the G
or NPT connection.
5.5 Mounting the i/p converter
to positioners
AnalogpositionerswithExdexplosionpro-
tection can be implemented by combining a
p/ppositionerwithaType6116-2(Exd)
Converter.
IntheType6116Converterdesignedforpo-
sitioner attachment, the connection to the po-
sitioner is used in place of the booster.
Another application involves upgrading p/p
positioners to electropneumatic positioners
(current signal input instead of the pneumatic
signal).
