In case the system can not support 48-bit LBA BIOS, please contact system maker or chipset
maker. It may be possible to download new BIOS for 48-bit LBA support.
If the system hardware supports 48-bit LBA, 128GB or 137GB capacity is accessible with Windows XP
and Windows 2000 after installing Microsoft Service Pack-1 and 3 individually. But there may still be a
problem to access more than 128GB or 137GB capacity if installing Windows 98 or 98SE, Windows ME
and Windows NT without installing special software as likes IntelĀ® Application Accelerator 48-bit LBA
BIOS Support.
If the system has Intel motherboard chipsets then please follow the description below:
(1) Intel chipset motherboard system
(1-2) Windows XP or Windows 2000 Users
48-bit LBA BIOS support is not necessary. Simply follow the Large Hard Drive Installation
Instructions. If the system currently has 48-bit LBA BIOS support, no additional changes are needed;
follow these instructions.
(1-2) Windows Me, Windows 98SE, and Windows 98 Users
If the BIOS does not currently support 48-bit LBA, try to obtain an updated BIOS from the
motherboard or system manufacturer. An MS-DOS-based 48-bit LBA test program
is available that
can indicate whether the current BIOS is 48-bit LBA capable or it needs to be updated.
If the BIOS currently supports 48-bit LBA, no additional BIOS changes are needed. Follow the Large
Hard Drive Installation Instructions.
(2) Other chipset motherboards
Please contact system manufacturer or motherboard chipset manufacturer to resolve 48-bit LBA
support,
