Espresso pump / water inlet pressure switch -> low pressure operation
The Schaerer Barista generally comes with an integrated low-pressure-ready balanced espresso pump.
This espresso pump, unlike standard non balanced espresso pumps, controls the brewing pressure to the set level, regardless of the pump inlet
pressure.
After the launch of Mod.3, it is no longer possible to switch the machine from "Normal mode" to "Low pressure mode". By changing from the 2.7
bar water inlet pressure switch to a 0.5 bar water inlet pressure switch (Mod.3), "Low pressure mode" is automatically always active when
"Mod.03" is selected in the machine configuration menu.
As of Mod.3 - Machines with water inlet pressure switch 0.5 bar - Low pressure CANNOT be activated
Low pressure mode is automatically always active
• Water input pressure is higher than 0.5 bar (pressure switch is connected) =
Normal mode: Espresso pump runs when coffee dispenses and when filling the boiler,
and for hot water servings.
• Water input pressure less than 0.5 bar (pressure switch NOT connected) -> Error message "Water pressure missing...." Any ongoing
actions are aborted and the machine is not ready for operation. Once the water inlet pressure reaches 0.5 bar again, the machine will be
ready for operation.
Mod. 2 and earlier - Machines with water inlet pressure switch 2.7 bar - Low pressure can be configured
After "Low pressure" is activated in the software, the coffee machine operates in normal/low pressure mode, irrespective of the pump
input pressure (= line pressure):
• Water input pressure greater than 2.7 bar (pressure switch connected) = Normal
mode: The espresso pump only operates for coffee dispenses.
• Water input pressure is less than 2.7 bar (pressure switch is NOT connected) = Low
pressure mode: Espresso pump runs when coffee dispensing AND when filling the boiler,
and for hot water dispenses.
• Water input pressure less than 0.5 bar (pressure switch NOT connected), -> NO error message > See important technical service instructions
