WARNING
When watercraft is caps i zed, do
not attem pt to restart the engine.
Operator and passenger s should
always wear approved personal
otation devices.
To return the watercraft upright, en-
sure the engine is off a nd the safety
lanyard is NOT on its post then grab
the inlet grate, step on bumper rail and
use your weight to rotate the water-
craft in a ny direction.
The 4-TEC engine features a tip-over
protection sys te m (T.O.P.S
TM
). When
watercraft tips over, engine is au-
tomatically stopped, then a valve is
closed to prevent engine oil to flow
back in intake system.
When watercraft is returned to its
normal operating position, engine can
then be started normally.
CAUTION: If watercraft has been
capsized for more than 5 minutes,
do not attempt to crank engine to
avoid water ingestion that would
damage the engine. See an autho-
rized Sea-Doo dealer as soon as
possible.
CAUTION: If engine does not crank,
do not attempt to start engine any-
more. Otherwise engine could
be damaged. See an authorized
Sea-Doo dealer as soon as possi-
ble.
As soon as possible, check for pres-
ence of water in the bilge. Drain as
necessary when back to the shore.
Submerged Watercraft
To limit damages to the engine, per-
form the following procedure as soon
as possible.
Drain bilge.
If it was s ubmerge d in salt water,
spray bilge and all components with
fresh water using a garden hose to
stop the salt corroding effect.
CAUTION: Never try to crank or
start the engine. Water trapped
in intake manifold would ow to-
wards the engine and may cause
severe damage to the engine.
Bring the watercraft to be serviced by
an authorized Sea-Doo dealer as soon
as possible.
CAUTION: The longer the delay be-
fore you have the engine serviced,
the greater the damage to the en-
gine will be.
Water-Flooded Engine
CAUTION: Never try to crank or
start the engine. Water trapped
in intake manifold would ow to-
wards the engine and may cause
severe damage to the engine.
Bring the watercraft to be serviced by
an authorized Sea-Doo dealer as soon
as possible.
CAUTION: The longer the delay be-
fore you have the engine serviced,
the greater the damage to the en-
gine will be. Failure to have the en-
gine properly serviced may cause
severe engine damage.
Fuel-Flooded Engine
When the engine d oes not start after
several attempts, the engine may be
fuel-flooded. Proceed as follows.
To prevent fuel to be injected and also
to cut the ignition at the engine crank-
ing, proceed as follows.
While engine is stopped, fully depress
throttle lever and HOLD for cranking.
Crank engine several times.
If it does not work:
Pull engine cover upward to remove it.
Disconnect ignition c oil connectors.
