Overview

This document describes a 2-Way Operating Grease Gun with 3-Way Fill and Heavy-Duty construction, Model No: AK48. It is designed for efficient and reliable lubrication in various applications.

Function Description

The grease gun is primarily used for dispensing grease to lubricate mechanical components. It features a versatile 3-way fill capability, allowing it to be loaded with grease cartridges, in bulk, or manually. This flexibility makes it suitable for different user preferences and operational environments. The gun's design incorporates a 2-way operating extendable handle, offering both a pistol-grip style for use in confined spaces and a lever-type operation for high pressure and volume delivery. This dual functionality enhances its adaptability to various lubrication tasks. The device is equipped with a variable stroke mechanism, which enables controlled grease volume delivery. A half-stroke provides low pressure and low volume, while a full stroke delivers high pressure and high volume, allowing users to tailor the grease output to specific lubrication requirements.

Usage Features

The grease gun offers several features that enhance its usability and operational efficiency.

Loading Options:

  • Cartridge Loading: To load a cartridge, the barrel is unscrewed anticlockwise, and the plunger rod is pulled back and locked with its tab. After removing the plastic cap and seal from a standard 400g grease cartridge, it is inserted into the barrel. The grease gun head is then screwed back onto the barrel. Air trapped in the grease is expelled by depressing the bleed valve and forcing the plunger rod out and in a few times until grease comes out of the valve. The handle is then pumped until grease flows continuously.
  • Suction Loading: For bulk grease, the open end of the barrel is inserted into a grease container to a depth of 50mm. The plunger rod is slowly pulled back to draw grease into the barrel and then locked. The grease gun is shaken to settle the grease, and the head is screwed back on. Similar to cartridge loading, the bleed valve is depressed, and the plunger rod is operated to expel trapped air until grease flows continuously.
  • Filler Pump Loading: This method involves screwing the grease gun head onto the barrel and connecting the bulk filler valve of the grease gun to a compatible bulk filler pump valve. Both nipples should be clean before filling. Pumping becomes difficult once the barrel is full. The bleed valve is depressed, and the plunger rod is operated to expel trapped air until grease flows continuously. The handle is then pumped until grease flows continuously.

Operating the Grease Gun:

  • Stroke Selection: The desired stroke (half or full) is selected by releasing the trigger on the handle.
  • Coupler Connection: The coupler, which has jaws, is pushed straight onto a grease nipple to form a secure fit.
  • Grease Application: The grease gun should be operated as squarely as possible onto the nipple.
  • Disconnection: Once lubrication is complete, the coupler is tilted, twisted, and pulled off. It is important not to pull the coupler off straight.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance is crucial for ensuring the longevity and optimal performance of the grease gun.

  • Cleanliness: The grease gun should be kept clean for best and safest performance. This helps prevent contamination of the grease and ensures smooth operation of the internal components.
  • Moving Parts Alignment: Regular checks of moving parts alignment are recommended. This helps identify and address any potential issues that could affect the gun's functionality or lead to premature wear.
  • Storage: When not in use, the grease gun should be stored in a safe, dry, and childproof location. This protects the device from damage, environmental factors, and unauthorized access.
  • Damage Inspection: Users should regularly inspect the grease gun for any damaged or missing parts. Operating the gun with damaged or missing components can lead to failure, personal injury, and will invalidate the warranty.
  • Accessory Connection: When connecting the grease gun extension pipe and coupler onto the grease gun outlet, PTFE tape should be used to ensure a good seal, but care must be taken not to overtighten, as this could cause damage.
  • Environmental Protection: Unwanted materials should be recycled rather than disposed of as waste. All tools, accessories, and packaging should be sorted and taken to a recycle center for environmentally compatible disposal. This practice contributes to sustainability and responsible waste management.
