D Tools and Equipment
This appendix lists the tools and equipment recommended for servicing
and diagnosing a Segway PT. Segway recommends that Certified Service
Technicians purchase the Segway Tool Kit (p/n 22177-00001).
Tool Description
Air compressor (if complete
service area compressed air
system not installed)
2 gallon capacity minimum; 1 per service technician. The following or similar is recommended:
Powermate 2 Gallon Side Stack Mini Air Compressor (VSP0000201).
Cleaning supplies Ammonia or ammonia-based window cleaner; isopropyl alcohol (90%); cotton swabs; shop
rags.
ESD equipment Field electrostatic discharge (ESD) kit including anti-static mat, wrist strap, line with gator clip,
and ground lead. Correct grounding of mat and wrist strap is essential.
Flathead screwdriver, small
Hex adapter 1/4 inch square to 1/4 inch hex
Hex bits 2.5 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm, 8 mm
Hex wrenches 2.5 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm, 8 mm
Low pressure inflation gauge
Mallet Plastic or rubber, 24 oz.
Multi-meter Capable of measuring both voltage and resistance as called out in the
Segway Gen2 PT

Ratchet 3/8 inch drive
Safety glasses
Shop vacuum (wet/dry vac) The following or similar is recommended: Ridgid 12 Gallon (WD1250)
Six-lobe bits T-10, T-20, T-27, T-30, T-45
Socket 13 mm hex, 6-point preferred
Socket extension 3 inch long, 3/8 inch drive
Tire iron 14 inch long, motorcycle type (qty 3)
Tire pump Air pump with Schrader valve attachment
Torque wrenches Adapters to fit the following hex and 6-lobe bits:
3/8 inch drive torque limiting ratchet (40 – 50 N-m range)
1/4 inch drive torque limiting ratchet (5 – 13.5 N-m range)
1/4 inch drive torque limiting screwdriver (0.3 – 1.6 N-m range)
Trigger-style bar clamp 12 inch bar clamp
