General Setting Functions
Name Description
Auto Clear MX-5000N/01N & MX-4100N/01N returns to initial state after a certain period of inactivity.
Auto Power
Shut-Off
Turns the machine off after it has remained idle for a preset amount of time. You can preset
this shut-off time as desired.
Auto Tray
Switching
Automatically switches to another paper tray filled with the same size paper if one of the
trays runs out. Two or more trays must be filled with the same size paper to use this
function.
Clock Time is adjusted automatically via the network by using either NTP or SNTP protocols.
Customise Key Certain keys on the LCD control panel can be assigned to frequently used functions.
Device Cloning
Copies the data settings from one MX-5000N/01N & MX-4100N/01N and sends them to
another MX-5000N/01N & MX-4100N/01N.
Device Control
(Restriction)
Restricts the use of specified peripheral devices.
Display Contrast Adjusts the contrast of the LCD control panel.
Display Language Selects the display language.
E-mail Alert Sends an e-mail to notify you of machine troubles (such as being out of toner or paper).
E-mail Status Notifies you of machine status by sending e-mails on a regular basis.
Firmware Update Provides diverse methods of updating firmware.
Function Review
Confirms the status of special functions in use just by touching an icon on the LCD control
panel.
Job Priority Places jobs in order of priority.
Job Status Displays the status of jobs in progress as well as a list of finished jobs.
Key Touch Sound Adjusts the volume of key touch sound.
Keyboard Select
Changes the keyboard on the LCD control panel.
(English (US), English (UK), Japanese, French, German,
Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, Danish, Russian, Greek, and Turkish))
Message Time
Control
Selects the period of message display.
Metadata Set Generates corresponding XML data when scanning an image.
Multi Access
Multiple jobs can be performed at the same time. (For example, while a large copy job is in
progress, originals for the next copy job can be scanned. And as soon as the first job is
finished, the second job starts automatically.)
Offset
Enables MX-5000N/01N & MX-4100N/01N to slightly shift multiple sets of documents to
differentiate jobs from different users.
Sharp OSA (Sharp
Open Systems
Architecture)
Allows third-party software developers to easily customise the MX-5000N/01N &
MX-4100N/01N by integrating the MFP with their application, thus enhancing ease of use
and boosting work efficiency. MX-5000N/01N & MX-4100N/01N supports both Sharp OSA
ver2.0 and Sharp OSA ver3.0.
Paper Type
Registration
Registers types of paper other than the default settings, and makes it possible to restrict
specific functions according to paper type.
Paper Tray
Settings
(Paper Type)
Specifies the designation of paper type (such as plain paper, recycled paper or coloured
paper) for each paper tray.
Preheat Mode
The first level of power reduction on the MX-5000N/01N & MX-4100N/01N. After the
machine has completed a job and no further machine operations have been performed, the
power to the fuse unit is reduced.
Protocol Supports four commonly used network protocols (TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, NetBEUI, and Ether Talk).
Punch The optional module automatically punches holes in output documents.
