A maximum of 2 expansion modules can be installed on the CPU 222.
Up to 7 expansion modules can be connected to CPUs 224, 226 and 226XM.

S7-200/300/400 in the appendix Access from and to the S7-200 (Page 125).
NOTICE
Only one CP 243-1 may be connected to an S7-200 CPU. If additional CP 243-1
communications processors are connected, the S7-200 system may not function correctly.
