1 About this Document 
1.1 Documentation structure 
This document is part of the FibroLaser III documentation. The various elements of 
the technical documentation for FibroLaser III are listed below: 
  System introduction and planning:  
The document provides an overview of the FibroLaser III system and includes 
important notes to be adhered to during the project planning. 
  Installation Manual:  
The document includes all relevant information required for the successful 
installation of a FibroLaser III system. 
  Operation Manual:  
This document comprises all information required to commission the device with 
the commissioning software FibroManager. 
  Maintenance and Repair: 
This document contains all necessary information required for performing the 
correct maintenance. Additionally, the document also contains the instructions 
for repairs that may be carried out in the field.  
 
 
1.2  Purpose of the document 
This document “Maintenance and Repair” provides important information for the 
efficient maintenance and the repair of a FibroLaser III system.  
This document is limited to the controller and the sensor cable. Chapter 3 
describes the work, which is required for the regular maintenance of the system. 
Chapter 4 contains important information on the targeted error analysis. The 
repairs on the controller and the sensor cable, which are permitted by Siemens, 
are described in chapter 5 through 7. 
 
 
1.3 Qualified personnel 
The FibroLaser III may only be serviced and repaired in conjunction with this 
documentation. This work may only be performed by qualified personnel. This 
maintenance and repair manual requires a suitable professional qualification for 
the performance of the maintenance and repair of modules of the safety 
equipment. 
Within the context of the safety instructions in this documentation qualified persons 
are defined as persons who are authorised to install, earth and mark systems and 
circuitry in accordance with the stipulated safety procedures. 
General knowledge of electrical engineering, fibre-optics, electrical safety and laser 
safety are required in order to understand the maintenance and repair manual. An 
additional requirement is that the user of this manual is experienced in the usage of 
a PC running the Windows operating system.
