Chapter 2 describes the hardware components of the Open Processor, and the function of
Trane devices. The Open Processor allows some control and monitoring functions that
formerly required hard-wired interfaces between the System 600 and field equipment. By
using the Open Processor, much of the expense of field wiring can be eliminated. The

The Open Processor with Trane driver enables the System 600 APOGEE to monitor and/or
control the Trane Tracer Summit™ Building Control Unit (BCU).
The integrated system consists of the Trane system and the System 600 APOGEE, linked by
the Open Processor and Trunk Interface II. The Trane System consists of a BCU
communicating with many Trane equipment controllers.
Figure 2-1 diagrams a typical Trane and System 600 APOGEE configuration.
