2.8 Configuration
The CAI and its associated control module (Critical Control Module) must be configured using the
4-mation Configuration software along with the appropriate QUADLOG software. The 4-mation
software runs on a Microsoft Windows-based personal computer (PC). It is a graphical software tool for
configuring control, communication, and I/O modules within a QUADLOG process control or safety
system. When the configuration is complete, it is to be transferred to the control module. Once
transferred, the CAI-portion of the configuration is automatically forwarded from the control module to
the CAI module. During online operation, the control module executes the configuration while
controlling the operation of its I/O modules.
There are many PC-based hardware layouts possible for setting up a 4-mation-based configuration station.
Two examples are listed here:
Run 4-mation on a Rack-mounted Industrial Server (RIS).
Run 4-mation on a PC
For additional information about 4-mation, refer to the related literature listed in section 1.3.
CAI-specific information is presented in QUADLOG I/O Module Configuration (document number
CGQL-4).
