A. Inspection of the switches prior to installation:
1. The switches may be packed in either cardboard boxes or crates. Remove the switch from
its container and verify the correct switch is being installed by reviewing the data stamped
on the switch nameplate.
2. Inspect the switch carefully for shipping damage. Look closely for:
a. Insulators that are chipped, cracked, etc.
b. Bent and/or broken hot parts
c. If the switch requires interrupters:
Remove the interrupter from its carton.
Check the interrupter for damage: bent, broken, etc.
Check the mechanical action of the interrupter by hand.
d. Check for missing parts such as (if required):
Connectors
Back plates and hardware
Mounting brackets
The equipment described by this bulletin must be
operated and properly maintained by qualified personnel
who are thoroughly trained and who understand any and
all hazards that may be involved. This bulletin is not
