Before fi rst use
Before starting to use the appliance, ensure that the appliance, the plug and
the cable are in a fault-free condition and that all packaging materials are
removed from the appliance.
First of all, clean the appliance as described in “Cleaning and Care”.
To open the appliance, pull the safety catch 3 for
wards a little and lift the
lid by the handle 2 at the same time.
Lightly grease the baking surfaces with an oil suitable for baking/grilling.
This will mak
e it easier to remove any manufacturing-related residue from the
baking surfaces.
Heat up the appliance to maximum temperature for a short time with the lid
closed:
NOTE
During fi rst use, you may notice a slight smell (there may also be minimal
smok
e). This is normal and dissipates after a short time. Ensure suffi cient
ventilation. For instance, by opening a window.
Insert the plug into the mains power socket. The red control lamp 4
lights up as soon as the appliance is connected to the mains.
Wait until the green control lamp 1 lights up. This sho
ws that the appliance
is heated-up.
NOTE
The green control lamp 1 can come on and go out several times during
this pr
ocess. This indicates that the temperature has briefl y fallen and
the appliance is heating itself back up. This is not a malfunction of the
appliance!
Pull out the plug and allow the appliance to cool down.
Clean the appliance again as described in “Cleaning and Care”.
The w
affl e iron is now ready for use.
