7 Transmission Repair

19. With the sealant applied, install the right hand hous-
ing down onto the left hand housing while aligning the
various shafts with the bearings. Make sure the align-
ing pins for the housing halves engage properly and
seat the right hand housing firmly onto the left.
20. Apply a locking adhesive and install the eleven pri-
mary assembly bolts. Torque each bolt to 16-21 ft.
lbs. in pattern as shown in figure C-31.

21. Install the two torque strap mounting bolts and lock-
nuts. Torque each to 13-17 ft. lbs..
Note: Always use care during assembly procedures to
avoid damage to lip seals.
22. Install a new lip seal into the right hand housing axle
bore and install the right hand axle carrier assembly
(see Axle Carrier section).
23. Install a new lip seal onto the brake shaft (see
replacement procedure under Lip Seal).
24.Roll the gears to insure the proper assembly and
function of the unit.
