Service
If the typewriter needs service. coll the dealer from whom it was purchased. or
toke it to the nearest Smith-Corona Service Center.
IMPOATANT: When the machine is to be shipped, for any reason, the printwheel
carrier inside the typewriter must be stabilized to prevent movement and the
typewriter as a whole must be properly protected from shipping and handling
hazards. Therefore,
be sure to save all pocking material including the carton,
the carrying case, and all internal and external pocking material in order to
re-
pack the typewriter exactly as it was received from the factory.
If rhe origir;ial material is not available or if the prlntwheel carrier cannot be put
into the correct position , the following pocking method is recommended to help
prevent damage during shipment . Smith-Corona will not be responsible for
damage during shipment .
Step 1: Stabilizing the printwheel carrier.
Lift the top cover.
Doll up single sheets of newspaper and insert them on each side of the
printwheel carrier until all open spaces ore filled to capacity
Lower top cover and tape it closed.
Step 2: Pocl~ing the typewriter.
Place your typewriter in its carrying case and make sure that the latches
ore secure.
Acquire a box slightly larger than your carrying case. Put wadded
newspapers in the bottom of the box for cushioning.
Place the carrying case inside the box and fill the sides and top with
more wadded newspapers.
Close the carton flops and tape them shut. It is recommended that you
use either filament tape or 2" wide plastic tape .
In large letters, address the package for shipment to the nearest serv-
ice location .
Remember to include your return address.
