Engage
parking
brake.
Remove key. Remove
spark
plug
wire
from spark
plug
and secure away
from
plug.
Engine
and components
are
H0T. Avoid
serious burns,
allow all
parts
to
cool before
working
on machine. Fuel Filler
Cap
and vent must
be closed securely to
prevent
fuel
spillage.

Engine Adjustments
and
Repair
Refer to the
engine
manual
for those adjustments
and/or
repairs that
can be
made
bv the owner.
Mower Deck
and
Component
Ad
justments
The following
mower deck
and component adlustments
and
repairs
can be made
by
the
owner. However, if there is
difli-
culty in achieving these
adlustments and repairs, it is
recom-
mended that
these repairs
be
made
by an authorized
SNAP-
PER
dealer.
Blade Brake Adjustment
The
automatic Blade Brake
should stop the blades within
3
seconds any time the blades
are disengaged by moving the
blade lever to the
"0FF"
position
or by releasing the
Blade
Pedals.
lf the
blades
take longer
than 3 seconds to
stop,
perform
the following measurement
and adjustment.
1. With the
blade engagement lever
disengaged, measure
the distance
between
the
f ront of the blade lever
(A,
Figure
32) and the edge of the latch
plate
(B)
The
dimension'(C)
should be 3" to
3-1/4" clearance between
the lever and the
edge of the
plate.
lf the
dimension is
incorrect
go
to
step 2.
Remove the
belt cover. Refer to the
section entitled
..BLADE
BELT
COVER REMOVAL".
lf the
dimension is
greater
than
3-1/4",
rotate
the
brake
adjustment nut
(A,
Figure
33) clockwise to increase
brake tension. lJ the
dimension is less than
3",
rotate
the nut
counter-clockwise to decrease
brake
tension.
Reinstallthe
belt cover and tighten the
bolts securely.
WARNING
D0 N0T operate machine until blade brake
is
adjusted and
functioning
properly.
lf
blade stop
time
can
not
be achieved
with the adjustment
procedure
described above, take
machine immediatelv to an authorized Snapper dealer.

Once blade is

a stop

seconds or less. lf the
blade continues to rotate after
3
seconds the blade brake must
be adjusted. D0 NOT
continue
to
operate the machine if the
blade brake rs

operatrng
properly.
