Engage
parking
brake. Remove
key. Remove
spark
plug
wire from
spark
pluf
and secure
away f rom
plug.
Engine
and components
are H0T. Avoid
serious
burns, allow
all
parts
to
cool before working
on machine. Fuel
Filler
Cap
and vent must
be closed
securely to
prevent
fuel
spillage.
Rear Engine
Rider
Drive
Components
Your
Snapper rider is
equipped with
a
patented
smooth start
clutch. The
clutch should operate
smoothly
and
provide
ample
traction. lf
problems
are
experienced, contact
your
Snapper
dealer for repair
Service Brake
lPark
Brake
Adjustment
Test
the wheel
brake on a
dry concrete
surface. When
prop-
erly
adjusted, the Rear
Engine Rider
will stop within
5 feet
f rom
fastest
speed.
lf
stopping
distance is more than
5 feet,
the wheel
brake should
be adlusted
as
follows:
1.
Follow the WARNING
statement found
on this
page.
2.
Check the fuel level
in tank. lf
over 314 full. remove
tank.
Refer to
the section
entitled
"REM0VING
THE FUEL
TANK". lt
314 or less,
proceed
to the next
step.
3. Carefully
stand the Rear
Engine Rider
on its rear
DUmper.
4.
Depress the
clutch/brake
pedal
(A,
Figure
39) all the
way
down. Move
and hold the
park
brake lever
(B)
in
the
"0N"
position
and release
the clutch/brake
pedal
to
set
the
park
brake.

5. Measure the
distance
(A,
Figure
40)
between
the
end
of
the
clutch/brake cable
(B)
and the
bottom of the housing
(C).
The measurement
should be 3/4".

The cotter
pin,
brake spring,
and clutch
yoke
(D,
E,
and
F,
Figure 40)
are
noted
for reference
purposes
only.

6. lf the measurement is
not 3/4", loosen
the two
jam-nuts
(A,
Figure
41). Hold the clutch/brake
cable
(B)
to the
chain case bracket.
7.
Adjust the cable up
or down using the
jam-nuts
to
obtain a distance of
314" between the
end of
the
clutch/brake
cable
(adjustment
shown in inset
of Figure.
40)
and the bottom
of
the housing.
B. After adjustment is
complete, securely tighten
the
cable
1am-nuts.
9. Retest the wheel
brake.
