      If Dolby Digital or DTS multi channel sound is not being reproduced on your Sony Stereo Receiver, verify that the playing DVD or other source is recorded in Dolby Digital or DTS format. When connecting a DVD player to the receiver's digital input jacks, check the audio settings of the connected component.

      If recording cannot be done with your Sony Stereo Receiver, check that the components are connected correctly. Select the source component using the function buttons. Ensure that INPUT MODE is set to “ANALOG” before recording from a digital component connected to the analog MD/TAPE terminals.

      If there is no sound or only a very low level sound from the center or surround speaker on your Sony Stereo Receiver, ensure the sound field function is on by pressing MODE. Select a sound field containing the word “C.ST.EX”. Adjust the speaker level. Make sure the center or surround speaker size parameter is set to either “SMALL” or “LARGE.”
