What does it mean when the LAMP/COVER indicator flashes orange (3 flashes) on a Sony VPL-MX20?
    • B
      Benjamin FloresAug 28, 2025
If the LAMP/COVER indicator on your Sony Projector flashes orange with a repetition rate of 3 flashes, it could indicate several issues. Check that nothing is blocking the fresh-air inlet and exhaust outlet. It could also mean the lamp has reached a high temperature, in which case you should wait 90 seconds for the lamp to cool before turning the power on again. In some cases, it indicates that the lamp must be replaced because it has reached the end of its service life, or the interior of the unit reached a high temperature, and the temperature fuse burned out. In these last two cases, you should consult with qualified Sony personnel.

    • S
      scolemanAug 26, 2025
If the picture on your Sony Projector is not clear, the issue might be due to the picture being out of focus; in this case, you should adjust the focus. If auto focus is not adjusted to the target, ensure there is no barrier in the projecting direction and press the AUTO FOCUS key again. Another potential cause is condensation on the lens; if this is the case, leave the projector on for about two hours.
