Xperia™ Companion is available to help you connect your device to a computer and
manage content, such as camera and multimedia content, browse files on your device,
and manage your device’s software.
Xperia™ Companion
Xperia™ Companion is computer software with a collection of tools and applications you
can use when you connect your device to a computer. With Xperia™ Companion, you
can:
•
Update or repair your device’s software.
•
Transfer your content from an old device using Xperia™ Transfer.
•
Back up and restore content on your computer.
•
Sync multimedia content—camera content, music, and playlists—between your device
and computer.
•
Browse files on your device.
To use Xperia™ Companion, you need an Internet-connected computer running one of
the following operating systems:

Microsoft

Windows
®
7 or later
•
Mac OS
®
X 10.8 or later

Managing files using a computer
Use a USB cable connection between a Windows
®
computer and your device to transfer
and manage your files. Once the two devices are connected, you can drag and drop
content between your device and the computer, or between your device's internal
storage and SD card, using the computer's file explorer.
If you have a PC or an Apple
®
Mac
®
computer, you can use Xperia™ Companion to
access the file system of your device.
Managing Files Wirelessly Using a Computer
You can transfer files between your device and other MTP-compatible devices, such as a
computer, using a
Wi-Fi®
connection. Before connecting, you first need to pair the two
devices.
In order to use this feature, you need a
Wi-Fi® enabled device that supports Media transfer,
such as a computer running Microsoft
®
Windows Vista
®
or Windows
®

To prepare to use your device wirelessly with a computer

Make sure Media transfer mode is enabled on your device. It is normally enabled
by default.

Connect your device to the computer using a USB cable.

Computer: Once the name of your device appears on the screen, click
Network
configuration
and follow the instructions to pair the computer and your device.

When you are done pairing, disconnect the USB cable from both devices.
To connect wirelessly to a paired device

Make sure Media transfer mode is enabled on your device. It is normally enabled
by default.

Make sure the Wi-Fi
®
function is turned on.

From your Homescreen, tap
.

Find and tap Settings > Xperia™ Connectivity > USB Connectivity.

Under Setup, select the paired device you want to connect to.

Tap Connect.
