TROUBLESHOOTING
Motor Will Not Run
1. Be sure switch is on.
2. Fuse may be blown.
3. Be sure shaft turns freely.
4. Motor starting switch may be defective.
5. Wires at motor may be loose, disconnected, or wired
incorrectly.
6. Motor may be burned out.
7. Pressure switch may be stuck in open position, or
contacts may be dirty.
Motor Runs But No Water Is Delivered
1. Stop motor and reprime pump. It may be necessary
to repeat this operation several times.
2. Leaky suction pipe or air control connections.
3. Foot valve my be stuck or strainer clogged by sub-
mergence in sand or mud.
4. Ejector nozzle may be clogged.
5. Pipe may not be pitched down from pump to well.
6. Water level below foot valve.
Pump Does Not Deliver To Full Capacity
1. Water level in well lower than estimate. Check water
level when pump is operating.
2. Ejector nozzle clogged.
3. Leaky suction pipe or air control connections.
4. Pipes may be corroded or limed causing excessive
friction.
5. Pipe sizes on offset line too small.
6. Foot valve stuck or strainer clogged.
7. Motor not up to normal speed. For low voltage,
check with power company.
Pump Will Not Shut Off
1. Pressure switch may be out of adjustment.
2. Ejector nozzle clogged.
3. Water level in well lower than estimated, making it
impossible for pump to develop sufficient pressure.
4. Leaky pipes.
5. Motor not up to normal speed. For low voltage check
with power company.
Pump Starts and Stops Too Often
1. Pressure tank waterlogged (no air cushion). Check
air control devise for defects. Drain water and allow
to fill with air (Horizontal Tank only).
2. Leak in piping system. Faucets or valves open.
3. Leaky foot valve.
4. Pressure switch out of adjustment.
5. Leak in pressure tank.
Motor Runs Hot and Overload Kicks Out
1. Motor wired incorrectly. Check motor and switch in-
struction cards.
2. Low voltage. Install heavier wiring if necessary.
Check with power company.
3. Poor ventilation. Motors need to be properly ventilat-
ed for cool running.
4. Starting and stopping too often. See Item 5, above.
Pump Is Noisy
1. Set pump on concrete or substantial sub-base.
Wooden bases amplify noise.
Air Spurts From Faucets
1. Airlogged pressure tank (tank too full of air) caused
by defective air volume control (Horizontal Tank
Only).
2. Leak in suction side of pump.
