What to do if my STA-RITE Water Pump runs but no water comes out?
    • I
      Isaac MortonAug 5, 2025
First, ensure the STA-RITE Water Pump is primed by checking that the pump, suction piping, and well piping are full of water. If they aren't, fill them. In cold weather, check for frozen pipes and thaw them carefully to avoid splits. Consider heating the pump pit or pump house and burying pipes below the frost line. Other possible causes: air leaks in the suction line, dropping water level in the well, foot valve stuck or plugged, ejector plugged, impeller plugged, foot valve or strainer stuck in the mud in the bottom of the well, a shallow well pump installed on a well with more than 25 ft depth to water (in this case a deep well jet pump is needed).

How to troubleshoot a STA-RITE ALE Water Pump motor that will not run?
    • S
      Scott LaneAug 10, 2025
Verify the disconnect switch is ON and that the circuit breaker hasn't tripped or the fuse hasn't blown. Disconnect the power and ensure that the wires connecting the motor to the power supply and pressure switch are tight and correctly connected.

Why does my STA-RITE ALE Water Pump cycle too frequently?
    • D
      David BeardAug 14, 2025
First, check that no faucets are left open. If your system uses a standard tank, ensure it isn't waterlogged; if it is, drain it to the air volume control level. Verify the AVC functions correctly and that all connections are leak-free. For precharged tanks, disconnect power, open all faucets, and bleed the tank pressure. Use a tire gauge to check the air pressure; it should be 2 PSI lower than the pressure switch's cut-in setting (e.g., 28 PSI if the switch starts at 30 PSI). Check the air valve for leaks using a soap solution and replace the core if needed.

Why does my STA-RITE ALE motor run hot and trip the overload?
    • C
      christie63Aug 19, 2025
Verify the motor is correctly wired according to the electrical instructions. Ensure the voltage at the pump is within + 10% of the motor’s rated nameplate voltage. Disconnect the power and make sure the wires connecting the motor to the power supply are sized appropriately. If the pump is cycling too frequently, refer to Section E.

What causes a STA-RITE ALE Water Pump not to deliver water to full capacity?
    • C
      chelseanewmanAug 23, 2025
Possible causes are: the well water level is lower than estimated, making a different nozzle/venturi combination necessary; steel piping (if used) is corroded or limed, restricting capacity and increasing friction; or the piping is too small for the installation.

Why is there air spurting from the faucets when using my STA-RITE ALE?
    • J
      Joshua HaneyAug 27, 2025
The STA-RITE Water Pump may still be priming; once priming is complete, all air should be ejected from the system.

    Tina MillerAug 31, 2025
What to do if STA-RITE Water Pump leaks around the clamp?
    • C
      Christopher TranAug 31, 2025
Tighten the clamp nut 1-2 turns, but be careful not to overtighten it.
