Why won't the power venter stop running on my Sterling GG-60?
    • M
      Megan JohnsonSep 4, 2025
If the power venter won't stop running on your Sterling Gas Heater, it could be due to improper wiring (check power venter circuit per wiring diagram), the main burner not lighting on a call for heat (heater is in lockout mode check flash code table for problem), a defective control board (no flash codes present along with no call for heat, replace control board), or a loss of pressure (check venting for blockage. Check tubing for blockage or hole. Check spud for blockage).

Why does my Sterling GG-60 keep blowing fuses?
    • R
      Renee MayerSep 18, 2025
A blown fuse in your Sterling Gas Heater could be due to an electrical short (refer to wiring diagram), improper grounding (check grounding wires), or a defective gas valve (replace).

    Morgan ColemanSep 16, 2025
Why is the power venter on my Sterling Gas Heater noisy?
    • T
      Tamara GraySep 16, 2025
A noisy power venter on your Sterling Gas Heater may be due to a loose power venter wheel (replace or tighten), a dirty power venter wheel (clean power venter wheel), or the power venter wheel rubbing on the housing (realign power venter wheel).

What causes a floating flame in my Sterling GG-60 Gas Heater?
    • M
      Matthew ThomasSep 14, 2025
A floating flame in your Sterling Gas Heater can be caused by blocked venting (clean Flue), insufficient combustion air (clean combustion air inlet openings), a blocked heat exchanger (clean heat exchanger), or an air leak into the combustion chamber, flue collector, or draft hood (determine cause and repair accordingly).

Why is the flame in my Sterling GG-60 noisy?
    • G
      garrettjessicaSep 13, 2025
A noisy flame in your Sterling Gas Heater may be due to an irregular orifice causing a whistle or resonance (replace orifice) or excessive gas input (test and reset manifold pressure).

    Ryan TaylorSep 12, 2025
Why does my Sterling GG-60 have a yellow tip flame?
    • M
      Melissa JohnsonSep 12, 2025
A yellow tip flame in your Sterling Gas Heater may be caused by a clogged burner (clean main burner ports), a misaligned orifice (align manifold assembly), insufficient combustion air (clean combustion air inlet openings), or the unit possibly being over fired (check gas input and manifold pressures).

Why does the power venter turn on and off during operation of my Sterling GG-60 Gas Heater?
    • J
      Julia HuntSep 9, 2025
If the power venter on your Sterling Gas Heater turns on and off during operation, it could be due to improper wiring (check power venter circuit per wiring diagram), the motor overload cycling or a defective motor (check motor voltage and amp draw to motor name plate, replace if motor found defective), or a defective control board (check for continuous 115v on terminal “CMB Blower” during call for heat, replace board if found defective).
  • M
    Michael GrahamSep 7, 2025
Why won't the power venter run on my Sterling Gas Heater?
    • W
      William PerezSep 7, 2025
If the power venter on your Sterling Gas Heater won't run, it could be due to loose wiring or connections (check all wiring in the power vent circuit to ensure good connection, including “Neutral”), a tripped motor overload or a bad motor (check for 115v between motor leads and check amp draw of motor. Replace if needed), or a bad control board (check for continuous 115v on terminal “CBM Blower” and neutral during call for heat. If not present and all checks are normal, replace).

Why does the fan motor turn on and off while the burner is operating in my Sterling Gas Heater?
    • R
      romeroaprilSep 6, 2025
If the fan motor in your Sterling Gas Heater turns on and off while the burner is operating, it could be due to the motor overload protection tripping (check motor amps against motor name plate, check voltage, replace if found defective), loose wiring or connections (check for 115v between motor leads), or a defective control board (check terminal ACB Heat for voltage if voltage not constant, replace board).

What to do if my Sterling GG-60 smells like gas?
    • B
      Brian HallAug 21, 2025
If you notice a gas odor coming from your Sterling Gas Heater, immediately shut off the gas supply. Inspect all gas piping for leaks and repair any you find. Also, check the gas test ports on the valve to ensure they are properly seated. Clean the heat exchanger/flue and flue collector. The gas odor could also be caused by negative pressure in the building.
