5.3
The machines of the VEB200 series are designed for blindstitch hemming. The
special applications of the corresponding subclasses are described under “2.3
Range of applications”.
Sewing
The sewing result should be an elastic seam free of marks. Depending on
fabric quality the sewing requires a certain skill. The following instructions will
help the operator to obtain this skill.
5.3.1
Proceed as follows if there are no former values available:
Bluff edge blindstitch hemming (Fig. 6)
1. Set required stitch length.
2. Set material guide (1).
Set the right edge of the material guide (1) centrally to the two cloth
retainers.
3. Set stitch depth for the outer fabric (left needle penetration) (Fig. 7).
Check the pressure of the cloth retainer and reset it, if necessary.
4. Set stitch depth for the hem fold (right needle penetration) (Fig. 8).
Check the pressure of the cloth retainer and reset it, if necessary.
5. Check the stitch length and reset the feed dog, if necessary.
6. Set the thread tension:
The seam should be an elastic connection between hem fold and outer
fabric, i.e. that the seam may not be too tight, especially when sewing
delicate fabrics (Fig. 9).
7. Re-thread to change the seam appearance, if necessary.
