In cases where higher torques than those given in Tab. 2 occur (please refer also to 6.5) or if the
tightening torques of the fasteners can not be relied upon, the use of dowel pins is neccesary.
In this case, please contact Sumitomo Drive Technologies.
In any case the allowable peak torques for emergency stops given in our catalogue are valid. In any case
the allowable peak torques for emergency stops given in our catalogue are valid. See tab. 3 & graph.

Tab. 1: Assembly tolerances
The depth of the output shaft flange recess must be equal to or greater than dimension “C”, acc. to
Tab. 1. To ensure the correct clearance the output flange dimension “M” must be maintained.
The recommended concentricity and parallelism accuracy of the mounting components (housing and
output shaft) should be within the figures “a” and “b”, acc. to tab. 1. The recommended location diam-
eters for the housing output flange and motor input adaptor are “A”, “O” and “U”, acc. to Tab. 1
The location diameter “A” should be fixed to the casing. As there is no sealing between output flange
and ring gear housing, the user should provide sealing when assembling (e.g. liquid sealing Loctite
No. 518 or 573) or O-Ring on customer’s housing.
Motors with standard flange concentricity and squareness tolerances according to DIN 42955 are
acceptable for standard applications. For high precision applications we recommend the use of
motors with reduced concentricity and squareness tolerance in accordance with DIN 42955 R.
Allowable transmitted torque could be limited by mounting bolts. The recommended bolt grade, quantity,
size and tightening torques for the output flange and ring gear housing are shown in Tab. 2.
