The retractor only locks in an emergency
situation, such as a sudden stop or crash. The
latch plate locks the vehicle belt when the latch
plate and webbing lie flat (fig. 1). If the latch plate
and vehicle belt do not lie flat then the vehicle
belt may remain unlocked (fig. 2).

IMPORTANT: This seat belt system requires
the use of a Locking Clip (fig. 2). See page 42 for
installation with Base, or page 59 for installation
with Carrier only.

seat belt out at least 24” - 36” to activate the
LOCKING mode (fig. 2). Once the locking
mode is activated, the belt should only get
shorter (fig. 3).
