INSPECTION AND
MAINTENANCE
DESCRIPTION
Regular inspection and maintenance are
essential to riding your motorcycle safely,
and to ensuring that it lasts a long time. The
following simple inspections and mainte-
nance tasks that are normally carried out
frequently.
Carry out periodic inspections even when
you do not use the motorcycle for an
extended period. Inspect your motorcycle
carefully when you begin using it again after
an extended period of non-use.
Follow the guidelines in the chart. The inter-
vals between periodic services in kilome-
ters, miles and months are shown. At the
end of each interval, be sure to perform the
maintenance listed.
WARNING
Improper maintenance or failure to per-
form recommended maintenance can
lead to a crash.
Keep your motorcycle in good condition.
Ask your dealer to perform the mainte-
nance items marked with an asterisk (*).
You may perform the unmarked mainte-
nance items by referring to the instruc-
tions in this section, if you have
mechanical experience. If you are not
sure how to do any of the jobs, ask your
dealer to do the maintenance.
