NOTE:
• Before working with coolant, read cau-
tions on the coolant container and
instructions in this section.
• A 50% mixture will protect the cooling
system from freezing at temperatures
above –31°C (–24°F). If the motorcycle
is to be exposed to temperature below –
31°C (–24°F), this mixing ratio should be
increased up to 55% (–40°C/–40°F) or
60% (–55°C/–67°F) coolant. The mixing
ratio should not exceed 60% coolant.
CHECKING THE COOLANT LEVEL
When the engine is cold, carry out an
inspection according to the following proce-
dure.
1. Park on a level surface.
2. Hold the motorcycle upright, and check
that the coolant level is between F
(upper level) 1 and L (lower level) 2.
The figure shows V-STROM 800DE.
WARNING
Making a mistake when handling coolant
may negatively affect both your body
and the motorcycle.
Before beginning, read the cautions writ-
ten on the container carefully. Consult
your dealer if anything is unclear.
