4.4 Inner surfaces of the
ventilation unit
Clean the inner surfaces of the ventilation unit
by vacuum cleaning or with a damp cloth, if
needed.
Check that dirt has not collected on the surfac-
es of the air heater/coolers, clean if necessary.
4.5 Condensate drain
Make sure that the condensate drain in the
bottom of the ventilation unit is not clogged.
Check the drainage function by pouring a few
drops of water on the bottom of the ventila-
tion unit. The condensate discharge connec-
tion is located on the rear of the unit under
the rotary heat exchanger.
4.6 Heat exchanger and fans
The cleanliness and condition of the ventilation
unit’s heat exchanger must be checked at least
once a year. On W3, W4 and W9 ventilation
units, the heat exchanger is removed by pulling
it out. On the W5 ventilation unit, you need to
first pull out the heat exchanger’s sealing plate
(figure W5, item 4) and then you can pull out
the heat exchanger for inspection.
Clean the heat exchanger, if needed, with
a soft brush, vacuum cleaner or under run-
ning water. If you find it necessary to use
detergent, choose one that does not corrode
aluminium. The passages of the heat
exchanger should be dry before you rein-
stall the heat exchanger in the unit.
The cleanliness and condition of the fans must
be checked at least once every two years. If
dirt builds up in the fans this can affect the
functionality of the ventilation unit.
In particular, if the extract air from the cooker
hood goes directly through the ventilation unit
(W3/W4), grease and dust can accumulate on
the extract air fan impeller and on the walls of
the ventilation unit's fan chamber.
Dismantling instructions for the fans can
be found in the installation, commissioning
and maintenance instruction. If significant
amounts of dirt collect on the fan impeller
cleaning should be left to a professional.
