one end of the X.21 line should be configured as a
Backup Master and the other codec should be
configured as a Backup Slave. This prevents both
codecs initiating the ISDN Backup, which can cause
a call conflict. The automatic ISDN Backup is
initiated by the Backup Master Codec following 50%
of synchronisation errors on the X.21 line. The X.21
Restore occurs following 10 seconds of continuous
error free, test data transmissions on the X.21 line.
The Backup Threshold and Restore Time settings
can be modified from these factory defaults using
the Backup Options menu.
NOTE: When operating in ISDN Backup Master/Slave mode,
it is advised that the DCE should carry X.21 termination
resistors.
Nailed ISDN
Nailed ISDN lines are available in some countries
for fixed point-to-point digital Transmissions. The

The Nailed ISDN feature supports connectivity with
Hitachi Ta's in the following audio modes:
HIT-APTX:7K5 Stereo 128K (Hitachi mux)
