Overview

This document is a user guide for the Technika Professional Series Multifunction 60CM Oven, model TGO65X. It provides comprehensive information on the oven's use, care, maintenance, and installation.

Function Description

The Technika TGO65X is a fan-forced multifunction oven designed for domestic kitchen use. It offers various cooking modes to accommodate different types of food preparation. The oven is equipped with a cooling fan that operates automatically to cool down the exterior of the appliance during and after use. An oven light is also included to illuminate the interior during operation.

The oven features a mechanical timer that allows for automatic shut-off. This timer can be set for durations between 10 and 120 minutes. For manual operation, the timer knob can be set to a continuous 'ON' position.

Usage Features

The oven's operation is controlled via three main knobs on the control panel:

  • Cooking Mode Selection Knob: Used to select the desired cooking function.
  • Timer / Manual Mode Selection Knob: Used to set the cooking duration or to operate the oven manually.
  • Cooking Temperature Selection Knob: Used to set the desired cooking temperature. An indicator light signals when the oven is heating.

The oven offers several cooking modes:

  • Grill Mode: Activates the top inner heating element for high, direct heat. Ideal for browning surfaces of meats and roasts, and for dishes requiring high surface temperature like steaks and hamburgers. Grilling should be done with the oven door closed.
  • Fan Assisted Grill Mode: Combines the top inner heating element with the fan. This mode enhances air circulation, preventing surface burning and ensuring heat penetrates the food. It's suitable for kebabs, sausages, ribs, chicken, and fish steaks. Grilling in this mode also requires the oven door to be closed.
  • Fan Forced Mode: Utilizes the fan element and the fan to provide delicate, uniformly distributed heat. This mode is excellent for baking and cooking delicate foods on multiple shelves simultaneously, such as cakes, cream puffs, tartlets, biscuits, and small portions of vegetables. It is also the most efficient mode for preheating the oven quickly.
  • Defrost Mode: The fan circulates room temperature air around the food, significantly reducing defrosting time. This mode is recommended for all types of food, especially delicate items that don't require heat, like ice cream cakes or fruit cakes.

The oven interior has five shelf positions, allowing flexibility in placing the grill tray or oven shelves. The oven shelves have a stop mechanism to prevent accidental full withdrawal, while the grill tray can be fully withdrawn without interruption. The oven door features a soft-close mechanism, requiring sufficient initial force to engage correctly.

Practical cooking advice is provided for various dishes:

  • Preheating: For optimal results, preheat the oven using 'Fan Forced' mode until the indicator light turns off.
  • Multi-shelf cooking: 'Fan Forced' mode is recommended for cooking on multiple shelves, allowing up to three shelves to be used simultaneously for delicate foods.
  • Baking cakes: Always place cakes in a preheated oven and avoid opening the door during baking to prevent heat loss and the cake from dropping. Tips are given for common baking issues like dry pastry, dropped pastry, dark tops, sticky exteriors, and sticking to the pan.
  • Cooking pizza: 'Fan Forced' mode is recommended, with a preheating time of at least 10 minutes. Use a light aluminum pizza pan on the supplied shelf, avoiding the dripping pan for a crispy crust. For pizzas with many toppings, add mozzarella cheese halfway through cooking. For cooking on two shelves, use the 2nd and 4th racks from the bottom at 220°C, swapping them halfway.
  • Cooking fish and meat: White meat, fowl, and fish are best cooked between 180°C and 200°C. Red meat that requires a well-done exterior and tender interior should start at a high temperature (200°C-220°C) for a short period, then the temperature should be lowered. Larger roasts generally require lower temperatures. Place meat on the center shelf with a dripping pan on the 1st rack below to catch fat. For savory roasts, dressing the meat with lard or bacon is suggested.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for extending the oven's lifespan and maintaining its efficiency and safety. Before cleaning or maintenance, ensure both the cooking mode and temperature selection knobs are set to 'OFF'.

  • Exterior Cleaning: Enamelled or stainless steel parts should be cleaned with lukewarm water and non-abrasive, non-corrosive substances. For stubborn stains on stainless steel, use specialized cleaners. Always rinse thoroughly and dry after cleaning.
  • Interior Cleaning: The oven interior should be cleaned immediately after use, while still warm (but not hot), using warm water and soap. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Avoid abrasive detergents, scourers, acidic cleaners, steam cleaners, or caustic oven cleaners, as these can damage the enamel. For tough stains, use oven cleaners specifically recommended for ovens.
  • Oven Door Condensation: If condensation forms on the oven door during extended use or when cooking dishes with high water content, dry it with a soft cloth and consider reducing the cooking temperature.
  • Oven Seal: The seal around the oven opening should be checked regularly for condition and cleaned without abrasive products or objects. A damaged seal should be replaced by Glen Dimplex Service Department.
  • Glass Door Cleaning: Clean the glass door using non-abrasive products or sponges and dry with a soft cloth. Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners or sharp metal scrapers on the oven door glass to prevent scratching and potential shattering. Only use non-caustic oven cleaners from hardware stores or supermarkets.
  • Removing the Oven Door: For better access during cleaning, the oven door can be removed. This involves opening the door fully, lifting and turning latches on the hinges, closing the door partially (3/4 way), and then pulling it up and out of the frame. Reassembly is the reverse procedure.
  • Dismantling Inner Door Glass: The inner door glass can be removed for thorough cleaning. This involves unscrewing two screws to remove the trim 'G', gently sliding out the inner pane of glass, cleaning it, and then reassembling in reverse order.
  • Replacing the Oven Lamp: Before replacing the lamp, ensure the appliance is switched off to avoid electric shock. Remove the glass cover of the lamp-holder, replace the lamp with a high-temperature resistant (300°C) lamp (220-240V, 25W, Type E14), and then replace the glass cover and reconnect the oven to the mains power supply. Replacement lamps are available from Glen Dimplex.

The manual also emphasizes that nothing (including foil and oven trays) should ever be placed on the bottom of the oven when it is in operation, as this can damage the enamel.
