3. Disconnect the hookup: Disconnect the cable from the generator output at
the input connectors of the channels.
Time Base System Checks
These procedures check those characteristics that relate to the Main and Delayed
time base system and are listed as checked under Warranted Characteristics in
Chapter 1, Specification.
Equipment
Required
One time standard, either a frequency accurate sine wave generat or or
time marker generator (Item 11)
Attenuators, 10X and 5X (Items 1 and 2)
One precision coaxial cable (Item 5).
Prerequisites See page 4--15.
1. Install the test hookup and preset the oscilloscope controls:
a. Hook up the test-signal source: Connect, through a 50 Ω precision
coaxial cable, the output of a time standard to CH 1 (see Figure 4--10).
Set the output of the standard to 100 MHz (or a period of 10 ns).

b. Initialize the oscilloscope:
H Press save/recall SETUP.
H Press the main-menu button Recall Factory Setup.
H Press the side-menu button OK Confirm Factory Init.
