Overview

The FMC001 is an advanced plug-and-track real-time tracking terminal designed for vehicle monitoring, offering GNSS, GSM, and Bluetooth connectivity. This device is engineered for ease of use and reliable performance in various tracking applications.

Function Description

The primary function of the FMC001 is to provide real-time tracking of vehicles. It utilizes Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) for precise location data, Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) for data transmission, and Bluetooth for local connectivity and configuration. The device is capable of detecting vehicle movement and ignition status, recording these events, and sending the data to a server for analysis and monitoring. It supports various data acquisition parameters, allowing users to customize how and when data is collected. The FMC001 is designed to be a robust solution for fleet management, logistics, and personal vehicle tracking, providing essential data for operational efficiency and security.

Usage Features

The FMC001 offers a straightforward setup process, beginning with the insertion of a Micro-SIM card and connection of the battery. To ensure proper operation, the Micro-SIM card should have its PIN request disabled, or the PIN can be entered later via the Configurator software. The device's cover is designed for easy removal and reattachment using a plastic pry tool. Once the Micro-SIM and battery are in place, the device is ready for connection and configuration.

For initial setup and ongoing management, the FMC001 can be connected to a computer via a Micro-USB cable or Bluetooth. When using a Micro-USB cable, it is necessary to install the appropriate USB drivers, which are provided by Teltonika. The installation process for these drivers is user-friendly, involving a few clicks through a setup wizard. For Bluetooth connectivity, the device's Bluetooth is enabled by default. Users can pair with the device from their PC by searching for "FMC001_last_7_imei_digits" (without "LE" at the end) and entering the default password "5555".

The device's configuration is managed through the Teltonika Configurator software, which runs on Microsoft Windows OS and requires the MS .NET Framework. This software allows users to customize various settings, including GPRS parameters (APN, username, password, domain, port, and data sending protocol) and data acquisition parameters. The Configurator provides a "Status window" with tabs for GNSS, GSM, I/O, and Maintenance, offering comprehensive information about the device's operation. Users can load and save configurations to and from the device or a file, update firmware, read records, reboot the device, and reset settings to default factory values.

For quick setup, the FMC001 also supports SMS configuration. Users can send specific SMS commands to the device to set essential parameters such as GPRS settings (APN, username, password, domain, port, and data sending protocol). The device's default configuration includes optimal parameters for track quality and data usage, but these can be adjusted via SMS or the Configurator.

The device's movement and ignition detection features are crucial for its tracking capabilities. Ignition is detected based on vehicle power voltage, while movement is detected by an accelerometer. The device makes a record when moving if events such as a 300-second time interval passes, the vehicle turns 10 degrees, or the vehicle drives 100 meters occur. It also records when stopped if an hour passes while the vehicle is stationary and the ignition is off. Records are sent to the server every 120 seconds if a record has been made. After successful SMS configuration, the FMC001 synchronizes time and updates records to the configured server.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance of the FMC001 ensures its longevity and reliable performance. It is critical that Micro-SIM card insertion or removal is performed only when the device is powered off, meaning both external voltage and the battery are disconnected. Failure to do so may damage the Micro-SIM card or prevent the device from detecting it.

The device is designed to operate within a specific power range of +10V to +30V DC, using a SELV limited power source. To prevent mechanical damage, it is recommended to transport the device in an impact-proof package. Before use, the device should be positioned so that its LED indicators are visible, as they provide information about its operational status. When unmounting the device from a vehicle, the ignition must be turned OFF.

Several precautions are outlined to ensure safe operation and maintenance. Users should never disassemble the device. If the device is damaged, or if power supply cables are not isolated or their insulation is compromised, the device should not be touched before unplugging the power supply. All wireless data transferring devices, including the FMC001, can produce interference, so it's important to be aware of nearby devices.

For proper installation, especially concerning the OBD II location, users are advised to consult representatives of their vehicle model or qualified personnel if unsure about the connection. Programming of the device should be performed using a PC with an autonomous power supply. The device is susceptible to water and humidity, so it should be protected from these elements. Installation and handling during a lightning storm are prohibited. Teltonika disclaims responsibility for harm caused by incorrect cables used for connection between the PC and the FMC001. Finally, it is crucial not to use the FMC001 if it distracts the driver or causes inconvenience due to its OBD II placement, ensuring it does not interfere with safe driving.
