Overview

This document is an owner's manual for the TEMPUR EASE 4.0 adjustable bed base. It provides comprehensive instructions for installation, operation, troubleshooting, and warranty information.

Function Description:

The TEMPUR EASE 4.0 is an adjustable bed base designed for in-home use, allowing users to customize their sleeping or lounging position. It features independent head and foot articulation, enabling the head and foot portions of the bed to be raised or lowered. A "Zero-G®" preset position is included to relieve pressure off the lower back by adjusting the legs. The base is operated via a wireless remote control, which comes pre-paired. It also includes a child-lock safety feature to prevent accidental operation. For split units (Twin, Twin Long, Cal King Split), a Sync Cord is provided to synchronize two bases, allowing them to be controlled simultaneously by a single remote. An emergency battery backup strap is available to lower the base during a power outage, requiring two 9-volt batteries (not included). Headboard brackets are an optional accessory for attaching a headboard.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Ratings:
    • Input: AC 100-240V, 50/60 Hz, 1.5A
    • Output: DC 29V, 1.8A
    • Watts: 52.2W
  • Product Ratings:
    • Lift motors are designed for intermittent operation, not to exceed two (2) minutes in an eighteen (18) minute time period (approximately 10% duty cycle). Exceeding this rating may shorten product life and void the warranty.
  • Weight Limits:
    • Recommended weight limit for Twin / Twin Long / Full / Queen / King / Cal King / Cal King Split: 650 pounds.
    • Maximum weight the bed can support per person is 250 pounds, with weight evenly distributed across head and foot sections. The product is not designed to support or lift this amount of weight in head or foot sections alone. Exceeding weight restrictions can damage the EASE® and void the warranty.
  • Compatibility:
    • EASE® fits easily inside bed frames, furniture beds, and platform beds certified to hold a minimum of 850 pounds.
    • If used without legs directly on a bed frame or platform bed, cross-bed supports (slats) are strongly recommended for stability.
  • Remote Control:
    • Requires three (3) AAA batteries.
    • Features include Head Up/Down, Foot Up/Down, Bed FLAT preset, and Zero-G® preset.
    • Child-lock function can be activated/deactivated via specific button combinations.
  • Emergency Battery Backup:
    • Requires two (2) 9-volt alkaline batteries (not included).
    • Designed for temporary power down during outages.

Usage Features:

  • Remote Control Operation: The wireless remote allows for easy adjustment of head and foot positions. The "FLAT" button returns the bed to a flat position, and the "Zero-G®" button adjusts the legs to relieve lower back pressure.
  • Child Lock: A safety feature on the remote control that locks all buttons to prevent accidental bed movements, especially important when children or pets are near. It can be activated and deactivated using specific button combinations.
  • Emergency Stop: Pressing any button on the remote control will immediately stop the motion of the platform.
  • Manual Operation: If something gets caught in the platform when flattened, the platform can be manually raised by lifting at either the head or foot to relieve pressure.
  • Power Outage Functionality: The emergency battery backup strap, when connected with two 9-volt batteries, provides temporary power to lower the base during a power outage.
  • Split Unit Synchronization: For Twin, Twin Long, and Cal King Split bases, a Sync Cord connects two control boxes, allowing both bases to be operated simultaneously by a single remote. If bases become mismatched, pressing the FLAT button will re-sync their mechanical positions.
  • Optimal Performance: For best performance, users should enter and exit the EASE® while it is in the flat or fully lowered position. For optimal performance of the Zero Gravity preset, the bed should be returned to the flat position first.

Maintenance Features:

  • Fabric Care:
    • Protect from direct sunlight.
    • For spot cleaning, wipe with a light damp sponge or vacuum with a soft brush attachment.
    • Keep at least 30cm (12 inches) away from direct heat sources.
    • For deeper cleaning, blot liquid spills with a clean dry cloth, wipe with a warm water-dampened cloth (do not wet excessively).
    • A soft bristle brush can be used for ingrained soil, followed by wiping with a clean damp cloth to remove residues. Dry in shade.
    • For persistent marks, seek professional advice.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues, including checking wired connections, power supply, remote batteries, and child lock status. It advises unplugging the base for 1 minute to reset electronic components and testing with a different electrical outlet or surge protector.
  • Warranty: The EASE® adjustable base comes with a multi-tiered warranty:
    • Years 1-3: Full Coverage of Parts and Labor: Covers defects in workmanship or materials, including electronics, electrical components, drive motors, and power supply. Tempur Sealy® will provide replacement parts and cover authorized labor and transportation costs.
    • Years 4-5: Full Coverage of Parts Only: Tempur Sealy® will offer replacement parts for defective components. Purchaser bears service, transportation, labor, and shipping costs.
    • Years 1-25: Frame Only Warranty: Covers defects in the workmanship or materials of the metal frame structure. Full product replacement will be offered for frame defects. This excludes cover, side rails, decking, legs, actuators, control box, remotes, power supply, and cords.
    • The warranty is void if weight restrictions are exceeded, if the product is misused, tampered with (control box, motors, remote), repaired by unauthorized parties, or damaged in transit. It does not cover mattresses, fabric, cables, electrical cords, or items supplied by resellers.
  • Customer Service: Contact information for customer service in Australia (1800 763 498) and New Zealand (0800 483 6789) is provided for support and warranty claims. Users are advised to have their receipt and serial number ready.
  • Disposal of Packaging: Immediately dispose of all packaging materials as they may pose a smothering risk to children and pets.
