INFORMATIONMANUAL
(i)Cleanallofthemaskedareaoneachpropellerbladethoroughlywithmethyln-propyl
ketoneoracetone.Quicklycleanthesolventfromthepropellerbladeswithaclean,dry,
lint-freeclothsothatyoudonotleavealm.
(j)Applyasecondlayerofmaskingtapeonthepropellerbladestocoveranadditional0.125
inch(3.18mm)ofthepropellerbladeareainsideofthepreviouslymaskedarea.
CAUTION:Thepropellerbladeandrubberpartsmustbeclean.Onlyvery
cleansurfaceswillcausemaximumbondofthecement.
(3)ApplyCementtotheFeedShoesandthePropellerBlades.
(a)Lightlysandthebondsurfaceofthefeedshoewithsandpapertocausemaximumbond.
(b)Moistenacleanclothwithmethyln-propylketoneoracetone.Cleanthebondsurfaceof
theanti-icefeedshoe.Changetheclothfrequentlytoavoidcontaminationoftheclean
area.
NOTE:Youcanusemaskingtapetopreventanycurloftheanti-icefeedshoeedges
whenyouapplycementtothebacksideofthefeedshoe.
(c)Applymaskingtapetothebreezesideofthefeedshoeedges.Letapproximately0.250
inch(6.35mm)ofthetapeoverhangtheedgeofthefeedshoe.
(d)Laythefeedshoewiththebondsideuponacleanpieceofcardboard.Tapethefeedshoe
ontothecardboardwiththe0.250inch(6.35mm)overlapofmaskingtape.
(e)Makesuretothoroughlymixthecement.
(f)Applyoneevenbrushcoatof1300LorEC1403cementtotheclean,maskedsurfaceofthe
propellerbladeandtothefabricimpressionsideoftheanti-icefeedshoe.Applycement
ataroomtemperatureof60°to75°F(15.56°to23.89°C).
(g)Allowthecementtoairdryforaminimumofonehourat40°F(4.44°C)orabove,whenthe
relativehumidityislessthan75%.Ifthehumidityis75%to90%,additionaldryingtimewill
benecessarytocurethecement.Donotapplycementiftherelativehumidityishigher
than90%.
(h)Afterthecementisdry(nottacky),applyasecondevenbrushcoattotheanti-icefeed
shoe.Thenimmediatelyapplyanevenbrushcoatofcementtothecleanmaskedoffarea
ofthepropeller.Timingisimportantbecausethecementonbothsurfacesmustreachthe
tackystageatthesametime.
(4)InstallFeedShoetothePropellerBlade.
(a)Makesurethecementistackyonboththepropellerbladeandfeedshoesurfaces.
(b)Removetheanti-icefeedshoefromthecardboard,andthemaskingtapefromtheanti-ice
feedshoebeforeyoustarttheinstallation.
(c)Withtheinboardendoftheanti-icefeedshoelocatedatDimension"W",positionthefeed
shoeoverthepropellerbladeleadingedge.
(d)Makesurethepropellerisatlowpitch.
(e)Aligntheinboardendofthefeedshoe,alignthecenteroftherstgrooveintheanti-ice
feedshoe(rstgrooveofthefeedshoefromthepropellerleadingedgetothecamberside
ofthepropellerblade)withthecenterlineoftheanti-icefeedtube.
(f)Aligntheoutboardendofthefeedshoe,tothepropellerbladesothatthefeedshoecenter
lineisontheleadingedgecenterlineofthepropellerblade.
(g)Startthefeedshoeinstallationattheinboardendofthebladeandworktowardthepropeller
tip.
(h)Ifthecementdries,applymethyln-propylketoneortolueneasnecessaryuntilthecement
istacky.
(i)Ifthefeedshoeisoffcenter,pullitupwithaquickmotionandinstallitagain.
(j)Usemethyln-propylketoneortolueneasnecessarywhenyouhavetoinstallthefeedshoe
again.
(k)Whenthefeedshoeiscorrectlyinplace,usearubberorwoodenhandrollerandpress
rmlyonthefulllengthoftheleadingedgetoformatightbond.
