Unit Description
7
The flow-through cooler DK15 is mainly used as a substitute
for tap water cooling.
The lowest temperature of the liquid pumped through the
cooler is dependent on the following factors:
The flow rate [l/min].
The type of heat transfer liquid and it’s viscosity.
The heat insulation and size of bath vessel of the heat-
ing circulator.
The length, diameter and insulation of the hose circuit.
The energy consumption of the object to be tempera-
ture controlled.
Working temperatures of < 15°C are easily attainable with
any size Thermo Haake heating circulator.
4.2
Immersion cooler EK20
This unit is designed to cool alcohol in a 5 l Dewar vessel
down to about –20°C. Constant temperature controlling is
achieved by regulated counter-heating using an open-bath
circulator.
Thermo Haake baths with a volume of up to approx. 20 liters
are cooled to below –5°C. The graphs in chapter 8 show tem-
peratures and cooling times using Thermo Haake circula-
tors.
The mounting element necessary for mounting the evapora-
tor (cooling coil) to Thermo Haake baths fitted with a bath
bridge is a standard accessory.
The coolant and insulating materials are CFC-free.
R134a is used as the coolant.
4.3
Immersion cooler EK30
The EK30 is the more powerful version of the EK20, de-
signed for baths with a depth of at least 200 mm. Tempera-
tures as low as –30°C in a 5 l Dewar vessel can be reached.
This cooler model is also completely CFC-free.
