3. PRODUCT OVERVIEW
3.1 MAIN COMPONENTS
The TouchPrint data logger comprises three main components:
the TouchScreen, the Printer and the micro controller.

Main Components
3.1.1 THE TOUCHSCREEN
The Touch Screen interface is made of 2 elements:
– An LCD display 64 x128 dots with a backlight.
The backlight of the display (when OFF) is turned ON by operating
any key, and will then stay on for a configurable period of time.
The ignition input may be used to backlit the display continuously
and to disable the sleep mode, independently of any key operations,
by specific setting (select Auto) of the backlight parameter
in the User menu.
– A Capacitive Touch keyboard with 8 keys, 6 on the display and 2 on
the side.

These 8 keys have different functions, please refer to the section User
Menu and Service Menu for more details.
The display is on sleep mode when no printing operations is required.
In that case the display is bank. Pressing any key on the display will wake
up the Printer and the main Menu will appear. See section "5. BASIC
OPERATIONS" on page 10 describing the Main Menu icons.
3.1.2 THE PRINTER
The TouchPrint printer mechanism is of Thermal type. The printing
width is 44 mm wide, 38
4 pixel. And the Thermal paper rolls dimensions
is the standard 57,5mm, 28mm of outer diameter, 8 m of paper, usually
used in digital Tachographs.
If paper gets jammed, the printer mechanism will protect itself with
an internal protection device.
If the printer runs out of paper, it will stop printing and retain the data.
And a clear indication on the display will indicate the paper missing
situation. When paper presence is restored, the printer will start printing
again the ticket previously required, from the last “section”, in order to
have complete printed data.
