Use
of
Service Brakes
The
coach
is
equipped
with
air
-
operated
brakes
which
ore
app
lied
using
the
loot
pedal
to
tl:re
left
of
the
accelerator
pedal.
The
amount
of
foot
pressure
o
pp
lied to
the
pedal
determines
the
extent
of
broke
application.
The
bes
t
brok
ing
action
is
obtained
by
mo
king
the
initial
op
plication
gradually
to
obtain
the
degree
of
broking
required,
then
gradually
red
ucing foot
pressure
os
the
speed
of
the
coach
is
reduced
, so
that
only
slight
pressure
remains
in
the
broke
chambers
at
the
end
of
the
stop.
Stop
lights
on
the
rear
of
t
he
coach
ore
automatically
o ppl
ied
when
the
broke
pedal
is
depressed
. A tell-t
ole
light
on
t
he
dash
shows
when
stop
lights
ore
oClivoted.

practice
does

increase

effectiveness

the

oke
system

wastes
air

unnecessary
wear

brake

chamber
and
line
pressure
is
not
increased,
instead
reservoir
and
line
pr~sure
is
reduced
.
Before
brakes
con
develop
their
full
effectiveness,
coach
air
system
pressure
must
be
at
l
east

I bs. (
690
kPo).
Observe
t
he
air
pressure
indicated
on
the
air
pressure
gauge
at
frequent
intervals
during
operation.
If
the
" LOW AIR"
tell-tale
light
flashes
and
buzzer
sounds
,
stop
vehicle
immediately
and
determine
cause
before
proceeding
.
Parking & Emergency Brakes
The
coach
is
equipped
w,
th
air-operated
parking
and
emergency
bra
kes. The
cont
rol
valve
for
park
ing
and
emergency
brakes
is
located
to
the
right
of
the
dr
i
ver
's
sea
t
on
o
bracket
attached
to
the
grab
roil. A

inged
cover
over
the
valve
is
provided
on
later
coaches
to
guard
against
accidental
rel
ease
of
pork
brakes
.
