Use of Clutch
(
5-Speed )
The clutch used with 5 speed transmissions employs o clvtcn o•c,e ·o
focilitole
forward or reverse gear selection. The clutch brc<e !
engaged o: the hottom end of clutch pedal travel opproximo1e . ·
(
2.5 cm) before pedal contacts the floor. To select first or reverse seor
the clutch pedal should be completely depressed to utilize the c l. · ch
broke and give o smooth gear engagement. During upshifts or dow~-
shifts
the clutch b roke is not required and w ill be subject to fast deter •
iorotion if
used . To ovoid engagement of the clutch broke do not
"bot tom" the clutch pedal during upshifts or downshifts; if it is depre ss•
ed only too point l" (2.5 cm) above floor, o smooth shift will be possible
without excessive
wear to clutch broke .
Reverse Shifting
( 4-Speed)
The " MASTER" switch mvst be in t he " ON " position before
" REVERSE " swi 1eh will be operative .
To shift into reverse geo r stop coach comp letel y. Depress clutch
pedal ond , while holding the "REVERS E" switch in the " ON " position
move shift lever into second gear positi on from neutra l.
To shift out of reverse gear stop coach completely. W it h clutch pedol
depressed, move gear shih lever in to the ne u tral positio n. It is no,
n
ecessar y to use the "Reverse" switch when shifting out of reverse .
CAUTION:
Reverse Switch shou Id be used only when gear shift lever is in
neutral position , otherwise possible locking of gears may result.
