on clutch
ond accel erator con tro l engine broke opera tion. Slight
pressure on either clutch or accelerator pedals wil l deenergize
engine b rok e. On automat ic transmission equipped coaches a
clutch switch
is not used and engine broke opera t ion is contro ll ed by
acce le rator switch alone.
2. Maintain governed speed of vehicle engine when engine broke is in
use to
obtain maximum retard i ng . Utilize service brakes to reduce
or maintain speed and engine R.P.M. approp ria te to gear or range
select ed . On descent of sleep grades the engine broke it self may be
insufficient to maintai n vehicle speed desired , up - shifting (in
oulomotic transmissions) con occur if en gine R.P.M . ,s over range
speed , and reduce effectiveness of eng i ne broke .
