How to troubleshoot a TOHATSU MFS 25C Outboard Motor that is difficult to start?
- CChelsea RomeroSep 12, 2025
If your TOHATSU Outboard Motor engine is difficult to start, several factors could be at play. Start by refilling the fuel tank if it's empty. Ensure the fuel system is correctly connected and inspect the fuel line for any air leaks, sealing them as necessary. Replace any deformed or damaged fuel hose. Also, make sure the air vent on the fuel tank is open. Clean or replace any clogged fuel filter, vapor separator, or fuel pump. If the fuel pump is malfunctioning, it should be repaired or replaced. Verify that you are using the recommended engine oil and the correct type of gasoline. Lastly, inspect and clean the high pressure fuel pump if it shows low performance or clogging.
