5. Q: When I scan an email address, it doesn't open a new email
message with the scanned address.
A: First, check that the “Recognize Email Address and open a new email message”
options under Scanmarker’s settings menu is selected. If an email message doesn’t
appear once you scan an email address, check that you have a default email program
defined on your computer. Scanmarker recognizes Outlook, Outlook Express,
Thunderbird, Eudora and other common email applications. Scanmarker will create a
new email message with the scanned address set as the recipient.
6. Q: When I scan a URL/web address, it doesn't open my browser with
the web address I scanned.
A: First, check that the “Recognize HTTP:// web addresses and open in your browser” is
checked in Scanmarker’s settings menu.
Secondly, check that a default browser is defined in your computer’s operating system.
Scanmarker recognizes Internet Explorer, Chrome, FireFox, Opera and other common
browsers.
The result of checking this check box and scanning a URL address should open your
default browser with the URL address you scanned.
7. Q: When I scan a sentence Scanmarker shows numbers and symbols
instead of what was actually scanned.
A: Please ensure that the “Scan as Text” scan mode is selected. Then ensure that the
option to “Scan only numbers and financial data” is not checked and that you have
selected the appropriate scanning language.
8. Q: When scanning, certain unwanted characters appear which don’t
appear in the original sentence. What should I do?
A: Scan slightly faster and avoid applying excessive pressure on the scanner.
Scanmarker operates optimally when moving the device quickly and fluidly in a sliding
motion across the paper. The movement should be similar to the movement you make
when using a yellow highlighter. If you scan too slowly or press the scanner too firmly
against the paper, Scanmarker may interpret letters as appearing too wide. If you scan
too quickly the device might stray away from your intended line of interest.
The typical amount of time it should take to scan a single line of text on a standard A4
document is about two seconds. Always ensure that the line you are scanning is placed
directly in the middle, between the two sharp tips of the Scanmarker device.
Scanmarker is capable of scanning at almost any angle, from nearly crouching over the
page to nearly standing tall (90°).

9. Q: I scanned a whole sentence using the "Thesaurus" feature. Why
doesn’t Scanmarker provide synonyms for each scanned word?
A: Scanmarker’s Thesaurus feature suggests synonyms for single-word scans only. If
you scan multiple words while this feature is active, Scanmarker will suggest synonyms
