Engine Maintenance
Engine Oil Specifications
Oil Type
Use high-quality, low-ash engine oil that meets or exceeds API service category CH-4 or
higher.
Use the following engine oil viscosity grade:
Preferred oil: SAE 15W-40 [-17°C (above 0°F)]
Alternate oil: SAE 10W-30 or 5W-30 (all temperatures)
Toro Premium Engine Oil is available from your authorized Toro distributor in either 15W-40
or 10W-30 viscosity grades.
Crankcase Capacity
Approximately 9.5 L (10.0 US qt) with the filter
Checking the Engine-Oil Level
Note: Check the oil when the engine is cool. If the engine is warm, wait 10 minutes before
checking.
The engine is shipped with oil in the crankcase; however, check the oil level before and after
you first start the engine.
