Where to Add Grease
• Grease the wheel bearings and front spindles (Fig. 34).

• Grease the fitting on the spindle pulley bearing
(Fig. 41).
Note: You can access the spindle grease fitting through
the hole in the mower cover.
• Grease the transmission couplers (Fig. 35).

Checking the Tire Pressure
Check the pressure at the valve stem after every 50
operating hours or monthly, whichever occurs first
(Fig. 36). Check the tires when they are cold to get the
most accurate pressure reading.

Draining the Fuel Tank
Danger
In certain conditions, gasoline is extremely
flammable and highly explosive. A fire or
explosion from gasoline can burn you and others
and can damage property.
• Drain gasoline from the fuel tank when the
engine is cold. Do this outdoors in an open area.
Wipe up any gasoline that spills.
• Never smoke when draining gasoline, and stay
away from an open flame or where a spark may
ignite the gasoline fumes.
1. Park the machine on a level surface, to ensure that the
fuel tank drains completely.
2. Disengage the blade control (PTO), set the parking
brake, stop the engine, remove the key, and disconnect
the spark plug wire from the spark plug.
3. Close the fuel shut-off valve at the fuel tank (Fig. 37).
