Removing the Heater Box
If
you operate the engine when the air temperature is
above 40
_
F (4
_
C), remove the carburetor heater box
(Fig. 17). Replace the heater box and the muf
fler guard
when the air temperature falls below 40
_
F (4
_C).
1.
Pull the choke knob of
f the choke rod (Fig. 15).
2.
Remove the three screws, lock washers, and washers
securing the muf
fler guard to the engine (Fig. 17) and
remove the muf
fler guard.
3.
Remove two Phillips screws and one hex head screw
that secures the heater box in place (Fig. 17).

4. Lift
the heater box up and away from the engine.
5.
Install the choke knob on the choke rod.
