handgrip.Todisengage,releasethelever.
•TractionControlLever—Toengagethetraction(wheel
drive),presstheleveragainstthelefthandgrip.Tostop
thetraction,releasethelever.
•SpeedSelectorLever—Thiscontrolhas4positions:3
forwardspeedsand1reverse.Tochangespeeds,move
thespeedselectorlevertothedesiredposition.Thelever
locksinanotchateachspeedselection.
Note:Beforeshiftinggearsintooroutofreverse,you
mustreleasethetractioncontrollever.Youmayshift
betweenanyoftheforwardspeedswithoutreleasingthe
tractioncontrollever.
•DischargeChuteControl—Rotatethedischargechute
controlclockwisetomovethedischargechutetotheleft;
counterclockwisetomovethechutetotheright.
•ChuteDeectorHandle—Movethedeectorhandle
forwardtomovethesnowstreamdown;moveitrearward
tomovethesnowstreamup.
•FuelshutoffValve—Closethevalvebyrotating
clockwise.Openthevalvebyrotatingitcounterclockwise.
Closethevalvewhenyoudonotusethemachine.
•IgnitionSwitch—Inserttheignitionkeybeforestarting
theengine.Tostoptheengine,removethekey.
•Choke—RotatethechoketotheFullpositiontostarta
coldengine.Asenginewarmsup,graduallyrotatethe
choketotheOffposition.
•ThrottleLever—Movethethrottlelevertotherightto
increasetheenginespeed;moveittothelefttodecrease
theenginespeed.MovethethrottlelevertotheStop
positiontostoptheengine.
•Primer—Presstheprimertopumpasmallamount
ofgasolineintotheengineforimprovedcold-weather
starting.
•ElectricStarter—Theelectricstarterisontherightside
oftheengine.Tostartthemachine,connecttheelectric
startertoanelectricpowersourcewithanapproved
extensioncordandpressthestarterbutton.
•RecoilStarter—Therecoilstarterisonthebacksideof
theengine.Pulltherecoilstartertostarttheengine.
•SnowClean-outTool—Thesnowclean-outtoolison
thetopoftheaugerhousing.Usethistooltounclogthe
dischargechutewhenitbecomescloggedwithsnow.

Youcanoperatethemachinewiththeself-propelfeature
engagedordisengaged(freewheeling).
Tofreewheel,slidethewheelsinwardandinserttheaxle
pinsthroughtheaxleholes,butnotthroughthewheelhubs
(Figure16).
