Note:Checktheltersmorefrequentlyiftheoperating
conditionsareextremelydustyorsandy.
RemovingtheFilters
1.DisengagethePTO,movethemotioncontrollevers
totheneutrallockedposition,andsettheparking
brake.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforall
movingpartstostopbeforeleavingtheoperating
position.
3.Releasethelatchesontheaircleanerandpulltheair
cleanercoverofftheaircleanerbody(Figure26).

Note:Avoidknockingthelterintothesideofthe

6.Removethesafetylteronlyifyouintendtoreplace
it.
Important:Neverattempttocleanthesafety
lter.Ifthesafetylterisdirty,thentheprimary
lterisdamaged.Replacebothlters.
7.Inspecttheprimarylterfordamagebylookinginto
thelterwhileshiningabrightlightontheoutside
ofthelter.Holesinthelterwillappearasbright
spots.Ifthelterisdamaged,discardit.
ServicingthePrimaryFilter
ServiceInterval:Every200hours
•Iftheprimarylterisdirty,bent,ordamaged,
replaceit.
•Donotcleantheprimarylter.
ServicingtheSafetyFilter
ServiceInterval:Every600hours
Important:Neverattempttocleanthesafetylter.
Ifthesafetylterisdirty,thentheprimarylteris
damaged.Replacebothlters.
InstallingtheFilters
Important:Topreventenginedamage,always
operatetheenginewithbothairltersandcover
installed.
1.Ifinstallingnewlters,checkeachlterforshipping
damage.Donotuseadamagedlter.
2.Ifthesafetylterisbeingreplaced,carefullyslideit
intothelterbody(Figure26).
3.Carefullyslidetheprimarylteroverthesafetylter
(Figure26).
Note:Ensurethattheprimarylterisfullyseated
bypushingonitsouterrimwhileinstallingit.
Important:Donotpressonthesoftinsidearea
ofthelter.
4.Installtheaircleanercoverwiththesideindicatedas
upfacingupwardandsecurethelatches(Figure26).

operatingconditionsareextremelydustyorsandy.
