cleanerfordirty,looseordamagedparts.
Thisengineisequippedwithareplaceable,highdensity
paper-air-cleanerelement.Checktheaircleanerdailyor
beforestartingtheengine.Checkforabuildupofdirtand
debrisaroundtheaircleanersystem.Keepthisareaclean.
Also,checkforlooseordamagedcomponents.Replaceall
bentordamagedair-cleanercomponents.
Note:Operatingtheenginewithlooseordamaged
air-cleanercomponentscouldallowunlteredairintothe
enginecausingprematurewearandfailure.
Note:Servicetheaircleanermoreoftenunderextremely
dusty,dirtyconditions.

1.Removetheair-cleanercover(
Figure30).
2.Removetheair-cleanerelementwiththeintegral
rubberseal(Figure30).
3.Gentlytapthepleatedsideofthepaperelementto
dislodgedirt.
Note:Donotwashthepaperelementoruse
pressurizedair,asthiswilldamagetheelement.
Replaceadirty,bent,ordamagedelement.Handle
newelementscarefully;donotuseiftherubberseal
isdamaged.
4.Cleanallair-cleanercomponentsofanyaccumulated
dirtorforeignmaterial.
Note:Preventanydirtfromenteringthecarburetor.
5.Installtheair-cleanerelementwiththepleatedside
outandseattherubbersealontotheedgesofthe
air-cleanerbase(
Figure30).
6.Installtheair-cleanercoverandsecurewiththe2knobs
(Figure30).

OilType:Detergentoil(APIserviceSG,SH,SJ,orhigher)
CrankcaseCapacity:1.5L(51oz)whenthelterischanged

ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily—Checkthe
engine-oillevel.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengagethe
blade-controlswitch,stoptheengine,andremovethe
key.
2.Makesuretheengineisstopped,level,andiscoolso
theoilhashadtimetodrainintothesump.
3.Tokeepdirt,grassclippings,etc.,outoftheengine,
cleantheareaaroundtheoil-llcapanddipstickbefore
removingit.
4.Pullandremovetheoil-llcapanddipstick,andwipe
theoiloff.
5.Insertthedipstickandpushrmlyintoplace(
Figure
32).
